Men in their hubris unleashed the Dark upon the Old World. The Dark destroyed the Old World and Men with it. Thirteen Men of the Old World took a perilous path which led them to the New World. Men had a second chance. But this New World was populated by other races, some unwilling to share with the Men. But this was the least difficulty they would face: Men had brought the Dark to the New World. For years Men and the other races banded together to fight the Dark. The battle was long but eventually a partial victory was achieved over the Dark. Men could at last rest for a time... so long as the passes were guarded. The descendants of the Thirteen formed seven distinct tribes, each different and unique. The gifts of the Thirteen were varied and each line inherited the gifts of its two ancestors.
